Udaipur, known as the City of Lakes and Venice of the East, is located in the Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan state in northern India. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. It is home to iconic forts, water-palaces, lavish royal residences, gardens, temples, and scenic locations. The city is located on the banks of a series of artificial lakes, giving the city a very picturesque setting. Visitors can spend time in the cafes on the shores of the lakes, in the many rooftop hotels, visit palaces and temples built in the traditional Rajasthani style of architecture, and roam around the narrow alleyways of Udaipur's many traditional bazars around Lake Pichola.
