Kashmir Artists Perform On International Disappearances Day

This year International Disappearance Day saw artists from the region participating in day-long silent protests. Kashmir has seen a rise in the number of artists portraying resistance against Indian rule in the form of paintings, prose, poetry and other art forms. The trend, analysts say, marks a new trend in the resistance movement. The Association of Parents of Disappeared spearheading the campaign for justice says over 10,000 people have been subjected to enforced disappearance' since 1989, the year an armed rebellion broke out against the Indian ruled Kashmir.
