Volcanic Islet In Ogasawara Chain Still Growing

OGASAWARA, JAPAN - APRIL 07: In this aerial image, the recently formed islet, which is connected to neighboring Nishinoshima island, continues its volcanic activity on April 7, 2014 in Ogasawara, Tokyo, Japan. The islet was first spotted November 20, 2013 by the Japan Coast Guard. Lava flows from the continued volcanic activity on the island became connected to nearby Nishinoshima island in late December. When observed by the coast guard on March 24, the islet had an area of 0.7 square kilometer, 3.5 times the original size of the Nishinoshima island. (Photo by The Asahi Shimbun via Getty Images)
