Lapindo Mudflow Victims Stage Protest In Porong

PORONG, INDONESIA - MAY 29: Lapindo mudflow victims stage protest during the ninth anniversary of the Lapindo mudflow eruption on May 29, 2015 in Porong, Indonesia. Lapindo mudflow eruption is suspected to have been triggered by the drilling activities carried out by Indonesian oil and gas company Lapindo Brantas Inc, which belonged to Aburizal Bakrie. The disaster killed 14 people and displaced 40,000 others. For the past nine years, most Lapindo victims are still waiting to receive any compensation. They are also calling for the Indonesian President Jokowi to intervene in the settlement of compensation, support free education, health insurance, jobs, and proper housing.
