FLOOD PRICES RESIDENTS OUT OF LYONS

LYONS, CO - April 1: Ray Thomas counts cash at the end of the day Wednesday, April 1,2015 at Clark's Hardware in Lyons, Colorado. Thomas' home was damaged in the flood of 2013 to the point it was no long inhabitable, but did have offers to have a new home rebuilt on the land for under $50,000. He missed the opportunities for the new home because of waiting on money from the city and since has relocated his family to the town of Mead. The 2013 flood in the city of Lyons still has some rebuilding while others in the city are being forced to permanently relocated after not being able to afford to rebuild their homes or find affordable housing in the city. Many of the displaced after long residents who built their lives and even own businesses in the area, but are forced to community from surrounding cities like Loveland and Mead.
