Anti-Coal Protesters Form Human Chain Across German-Polish Border

GUBEN, GERMANY - AUGUST 23: Steam rises from the cooling towers of the Jaenschwalde coal-fired power plant on August 23, 2014 near Gross Gastrose, Germany. Thousands of demonstrators participated in the event to protest against plans by Swedish energy conglomerate Vattenfall and Polish energy supplier PGE to expand open-pit lignite coal mines in the region that would mean razing several villages, including Atterwasch and Kerkwitz in Germany and Grabice in Poland.
