Five Military Police Officers On Trial For The Death Of Stefano Cucchi

It will be the First Court of Rome to deal with the trial for the five Carabinieri accused for the beating and death of Stefano Cucchi, the 32-year-old who died on 22 October 2009 at the Sandro Pertini hospital in Rome, six days after being arrested for possession of drugs. The President of the court, Francesco Monastero, decided to do so because of incompatibility expressed by the president of the third court of assembly, Evelina Canale, who had already dealt with the first trial, when there were three prison police officers and nine doctors and nurses in the hospital's protected facility.
