Sumela Monestry in Trabzon

TRABZON, TURKEY - JUL 30: Tourists visit the Sumela Monestry also called Virgin Mary, built into the rock cliffs of the Altindere Valley on the slopes of Blackmount (Mela mount) located in Macka district of Turkey's Trabzon province during the time of Byzantine Emperor Theodosius (375-395) by two priests called Barnabas and Sophranios from Athens. The major sections of Sumela are the main rock church, several chapels, kitchens, student rooms, a guesthouse, library. The monestery is visited by nearly 400 thousand tourists in a year.
