Biografia:
Nicki Gillis is an extraordinary vocalist with the ability to capture her audience’s attention and mesmerise them with every note. Originally from Western Australia, Nicki’s commitment & passion to her profession saw her relocate to Sydney in 2003 to develop her career.
Having toured the US, South Pacific, Middle East and South East Asia, and with previous #1 in the UK (Be A Star), #1 (Remember Me) and #2 (On The Mountain) singles in Europe, Nicki Gillis is one of Australia’s busiest and most in demand Country Rock performers.
Her debut album “Lucy’s Daughter” was much appreciated by the constantly increasing number of fans. Followed by her “On the Mountain” album, the recent “Live and Acoustic” CD and “Collaboration” with Bob Howe, Nicki has provided her fans with an enormous variety of original and covered material.
Her self written singles, “Leavin’ You for Myself”, “Remember Me”, “Honey I Don’t Have Time”, Be a Star and “Watch the Wildflowers Grow” all reached top ten in Europe, Australia or the United Kingdom.
With her considerable international experience, Nicki’s show has been developed and refined to ensure all audiences, no matter if in large or intimate venues, receive the best possible entertainment. Nicki exudes class and has a star quality that engages audiences from many different demographics and musical genres.
When teamed with her new band consisting of some of Australia’s leading country and rock musicians, Nicki’s live shows have to be seen to be believed. The professionalism, vibrancy, excitement and chemistry between band members ensures an entertaining show for all audiences.
While juggling a husband and two growing daughters Nicki has continued to record and perform for her large and faithful group of fans. She has also maintained a strong industry presence with appearances at Australia’s largest music events such as the Tamworth Festival and the Gympie Muster, numerous television appearances including the Nine Network’s “Mornings with Kerrie-Anne”, a full page spread in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph and a celebrity appearance at Australia Zoo.
She has donated significant time and effort to perform for Australian, US, British and NATO service men and women in Iraq, East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
Nicki is the recipient of numerous music awards including the 2006 Blue Mountains Blues/Jazz Music Award, the 2007 Horsham Independent Female Artist of the Year, Open Album of the Year, the 2007 Coopers Golden Saddle Award and the 2009 Frank Ifield International Spur Award.
