The savanna, or La Gran Sabana, spreads into the regions of the Guiana Highlands and south-east into Bolívar State all the way to the borders with Brazil and Guyana. The Gran Sabana has an area of 10,820 km2 and is part of the second largest National Park in Venezuela, the Canaima National Park. The largest National Park in Venezuela is Parima Tapirapecó located in the Amazon State. The average temperature is around 20 °C , but at night can drop to 13 °C, nevertheless on top of the tepuis it can reach 0 °C (32 °F). La Gran Sabana shows one of the most unusual landscapes in the world, with rivers, waterfalls, deep and huge valleys, impenetrable jungles and savannahs that host large numbers and varieties of plant and animal species. The most prominent geological features are the table top mountains known as tepuis.
