After an acute appendicitis laparoscopic surgical procedure quickly turned into an all-out, emergency, open abdomen, small intestine ileal cancer tumor extraction surgery, this senior adult man medical patient has had an IV infusion port temporarily embedded into his chest. The current cancer has apparently been completely removed. But he will continue to fight back - attempting to prevent future chronic illness occurrence - by having bi-weekly adjuvant chemotherapy treatments for three months. He is home now - after the initial chemo session lasting a few hours at the hospital - with a portable battery-powered medical equipment infusion pump strapped around his waist. The pump is attached to his chest port with a series of small tubes through which the chemotherapy drugs will continue to be dripped for two more days. After that time, a home caregiver nurse will visit to detach the pump, infusion tubes and connectors until the next session in two weeks.
