Record attempt on the ballet barre

21 June 2025, Saxony, Chemnitz: Under the guidance of dancers from the Chemnitz Ballet, hundreds of people in the Capital of Culture Chemnitz took part in the Guinness World Record attempt for the largest and longest ballet class. The record attempt was only partially successful. Around 1050 people came to dance together in the open-air ballet studio. It would have taken 1600 people to break the current world record. The dance lasted 48 minutes. This broke the previous record. The event took place as part of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance.
