The artist Amedeo Modigliani around 1909 he carved in Livorno, his hometown, 5 heads and before leaving for Paris leaves them in custody to an acquaintance the merchant known as 'Solicchio' having to release his studio in via Gherardi del Testa. The young child Piero Carboni in the in the 1930s sees them and is impressed. During World War II in 1943 Piero found 3 of 5 heads in the midst of the rubble of the destroyed house and saved, along with a chest containing some books with glosses of handwriting held by Modigliani. He works as a panel beater throughout his life and holds and exposes these three heads in his bodywork in Livorno those three heads until his death (1998). Today they are kept in a vault. The niece, Maurizio Bellandi, wrote the book ' Amedeo Modigliani. The stumbling blocks.
