Hospital discharge summary for lung cancer patient, 1965.

NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 31: Page of a Belfast City Hospital discharge summary for W G, case number 46 in Dr P C Elmes' work with McCaughey and Wade to produce the first detailed UK report of the relationship between exposure to asbestos and the lung cancer mesothelioma. The summary reports that W G, diagnosed with mesothelioma, was admitted to Professor Wade's unit because of Wade's interest in the disease. It is likely that W G became part of Elmes, McCaughey and Wade's study at this time. He later died, and the diagnosis of mesothelioma was confirmed at post-mortem. (Photo by SSPL/Getty Images)
