Picture released in 1936 of demonstrators in the streets of Damascus, Syria. In 1936, after Syrian general strikes, protests and riots, France and Syria signed a Treaty of Independence ending the French protectorate and occupation from 1920 to March 1936 in Syria, but France refused to ratified the treaty.
