UK - Education - Lining up for school

Pupils at Millfields Community School line up in their playground before school in the morning. The school is a large inner-city primary school with 604 children on its roll. It is a happy and high achieving school despite significant levels of poverty among many of its families and the fact that more than 74% of the pupils speak English as an additional language. Children from many racial and cultural backgrounds have been successfully integrated and a large number of Muslim children (around 40% of the pupils) attend the school. It has been hailed as 'a national leader' for raising educational standards, successful inclusion of children with special needs into mainstream schooling, and the diversity of its pupils who in total speak over 40 languages.
