(Original Caption) A remarkably sharp "shot" showing Eric Liddell of the University of Edinburgh, winning the 400-meter finals in the Olympic Games at the Colombes Stadium, still giving every bit of himself to the effort although he had a good lead over Fitch of the United States, and the rest of the field. The young theological student, who preaches in the Scotch Presbyterian Church in Paris on Sunday and refuses to take part in any sport on the Sabbath, broke the world's record, his time being 47 3/5.
