I'm Willie Geist along with Al Roker, Natalie Morales, and Tamron Hall. We have a busy morning. TAMRON HALL: Mm-Hm. WILLIE GEIST: We've got Gaga and Tony Bennett up Top of the Rock. TAMRON HALL: Major. NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: Priscilla Presley in here. What's going on? TAMRON HALL: Chadwick Boseman singing James Brown. NATALIE MORALES: Chadwick, yeah. AL ROKER: James Brown. TAMRON HALL: Amazing. NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. Amazing. WILLIE GEIST: I'm telling people you have to go see this movie. AL ROKER: It is terrific. WILLIE GEIST: If only just for him. NATALIE MORALES: He's unbelievable. AL ROKER: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: Yes. WILLIE GEIST: He will blow your mind. Chadwick Boseman is James Brown. AL ROKER: But there's not a bad performance in it. WILLIE GEIST: No. TAMRON HALL: No. NATALIE MORALES: No. No, no. WILLIE GEIST: No, no. AL ROKER: You know, I mean Viola Davis-- NATALIE MORALES: Incredible. TAMRON HALL: It's a great movie. AL ROKER: The great Octavia Spencer. TAMRON HALL: Octavia Spencer. NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. AL ROKER: Dan Aykroyd. WILLIE GEIST: Yes. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. AL ROKER: You know, our good buddy Craig Robinson. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: Who's who. TAMRON HALL: It's a good movie. WILLIE GEIST: When a biopic rises and falls on the performance of the main character,-- NATALIE MORALES: Right. WILLIE GEIST: --whether it's Jamie Foxx and Ray, and all that. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: This guy is so good. You got to go see Get On Up. NATALIE MORALES: James Brown not an easy character to play. WILLIE GEIST: No. AL ROKER: No. NATALIE MORALES: I mean, my gosh. TAMRON HALL: I mean he's also playing Jackie Robinson. AL ROKER: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: Right, right. WILLIE GEIST: Right. TAMRON HALL: What a magical career he's had. NATALIE MORALES: Amazing. AL ROKER: Hm. TAMRON HALL: He brings it in this one. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: Go check that out. All right. So you're getting ready maybe to go on your summer vacation. NATALIE MORALES: Mm-Hm. WILLIE GEIST: Maybe you're going to take a boat out or something like that, right? TAMRON HALL: Oh. WILLIE GEIST: Right? AL ROKER: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: Go whale watching. NATALIE MORALES: To cruise. WILLIE GEIST: You like whale watching? NATALIE MORALES: Love it. WILLIE GEIST: Love whale watching. AL ROKER: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: The cruise. WILLIE GEIST: Sure. NATALIE MORALES: Mm-Hm. WILLIE GEIST: Well, you'll want to hear this. Around 4:30 P.M. yesterday a whale watching boat carrying a hundred sixty-three people, including the crew, was stranded about fifteen miles off the coast of Massachusetts. About ten minutes into its return trip, it was on its way home, when the propeller apparently got tangled up in a lobster trap. AL ROKER: Oh, my. TAMRON HALL: How does that happen? NATALIE MORALES: It's not good. WILLIE GEIST: And it wasn't for like fifteen minutes. It wasn't for an hour. They were stuck overnight. TAMRON HALL: What? NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. AL ROKER: Oh. WILLIE GEIST: The passenger-- NATALIE MORALES: Well, it was completely wrapped around the-- the cord of the lobster trap. WILLIE GEIST: Couldn't get it out, so. AL ROKER: How long was the original trip supposed to take? NATALIE MORALES: Only three hours. AL ROKER: Three hours? NATALIE MORALES: Yes. TAMRON HALL: So they ended up overnight? AL ROKER: Three hours? NATALIE MORALES: Three hour. TAMRON HALL: Oh. WILLIE GEIST: Good set up. NATALIE MORALES: Yes. Maybe we're looking for whales, though. TAMRON HALL: Oh, my gosh. NATALIE MORALES: Not Ginger and Marry Ann. Are they singing now? Are they-- they're finally back? TAMRON HALL: Singing Hallelujah. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. They're singing-- was there ever any doubt Al would know every word to that song? TAMRON HALL: No, never. WILLIE GEIST: No. TAMRON HALL: Oh, he's still going. Look at it. WILLIE GEIST: Oh, oh. Now we're on the high seas. TAMRON HALL: And now we're chasing. Oh, wow. Okay. WILLIE GEIST: Why shouldn't we do this to our first commercial? AL ROKER: Sorry. NATALIE MORALES: People are getting nauseous at home. AL ROKER: Any time you could run Gilligan's Island. TAMRON HALL: It's pretty great. WILLIE GEIST: Well, so the good news is these people are okay. NATALIE MORALES: They're home. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: But they didn't have to stay overnight. Fifteen hours on this boat. TAMRON HALL: Gosh. WILLIE GEIST: They couldn't make a transfer to another boat. It wasn't safe. TAMRON HALL: Was there a potty? WILLIE GEIST: They got-- there was a potty. AL ROKER: Yes. NATALIE MORALES: Yes. Yes. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: And they've got food, they've got water, they've got blanket so they slept in the ship. TAMRON HALL: Okay. AL ROKER: But I would think by the end of that trip,-- NATALIE MORALES: Right. AL ROKER: --that potty was-- WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: I just-- WILLIE GEIST: Must have been a good place. NATALIE MORALES: And I hope they at least saw a bunch of whales after all of that. WILLIE GEIST: That has not been confirmed. NATALIE MORALES: They better have. TAMRON HALL: We have to research that. WILLIE GEIST: So they got back just this morning, actually. TAMRON HALL: Really? WILLIE GEIST: They were supposed to get-- NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: --on like four thirty in the afternoon yesterday. Just got back into port at Boston. TAMRON HALL: Well, that's not bad. Is that the boat? AL ROKER: Yes. NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: That's a king size boat. NATALIE MORALES: It's like one of those ferries. AL ROKER: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: Picturing something tiny. NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. AL ROKER: No, no. TAMRON HALL: That's not too bad. AL ROKER: Look. WILLIE GEIST: No. See they're happy. NATALIE MORALES: They look happy. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: Just having a good time. AL ROKER: How about? King of the world, ma. NATALIE MORALES: Yes. AL ROKER: King of the world. I like that guy. WILLIE GEIST: Now, here's what they got from the company. A hundred dollar voucher toward a new cruise, in case you wanted to replay that all over again. NATALIE MORALES: Mm-Hm. WILLIE GEIST: And they got five hundred dollars cash. TAMRON HALL: Oh. AL ROKER: That's-- that's very, very generous, I think. TAMRON HALL: That's worth it. NATALIE MORALES: Love that. WILLIE GEIST: Maybe that was worth it. NATALIE MORALES: All right. AL ROKER: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: I think that's what it is. WILLIE GEIST: Five hundred dollars cash. TAMRON HALL: Five hundred? AL ROKER: You know, kudos to-- WILLIE GEIST: Fifteen hours-- NATALIE MORALES: Not a bad deal. AL ROKER: Kudos to that company, though. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: Yeah. AL ROKER: When you read about the airlines who cheap out every time. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: Right. AL ROKER: You know that's really nice. WILLIE GEIST: And they did it quickly. AL ROKER: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: I love that because the airlines-- NATALIE MORALES: And they have a whale of a tale to tell. WILLIE GEIST: Oh. AL ROKER: Oh. Natalie. TAMRON HALL: Nice. AL ROKER: Natalie. NATALIE MORALES: Okay. AL ROKER: She is here till-- TAMRON HALL: Yes, rehearsing that all morning. (Cross talking) TAMRON HALL: I love it. NATALIE MORALES: Well, if you are booking a trip-- TAMRON HALL: Mm-Hm. WILLIE GEIST: Yes. AL ROKER: Mm-Hm. Now that you've got five-hundred-dollar cash. NATALIE MORALES: If you want-- right. WILLIE GEIST: Yes. TAMRON HALL: Yes. WILLIE GEIST: Go crazy. NATALIE MORALES: But perhaps instead of take a cruise looking for some last minute inexpensive getaway, I mean how spontaneous are you guys, Vegas maybe. Now? WILLIE GEIST: Sure. NATALIE MORALES: Want to go right now? WILLIE GEIST: Today, yeah. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: Okay. WILLIE GEIST: Yes. NATALIE MORALES: There is a new app. It's called Flight Tonight. TAMRON HALL: Hm. NATALIE MORALES: It's-- it's basically like an on-demand-- like, an uber app. WILLIE GEIST: Right. TAMRON HALL: Look at the logo, very slick. AL ROKER: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: It allows you to get services instantly. So like-- AL ROKER: Kind of like Cary Grant in North by Northwest. NATALIE MORALES: For example, right now we can go to Savannah, Georgia, for two hundred eighty dollars. TAMRON HALL: Okay. WILLIE GEIST: Okay. TAMRON HALL: But when does the flight leave? NATALIE MORALES: Myrtle Beach. WILLIE GEIST: Soon. NATALIE MORALES: Tonight. Tonight. AL ROKER: By tonight. NATALIE MORALES: These are all flights tonight. WILLIE GEIST: Like day out trips. AL ROKER: Yeah. TAMRON HALL: Okay. NATALIE MORALES: Yes. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: So Myrtle Beach, two hundred ninety-two. These are one way, we should mention. Coming home, I guess-- AL ROKER: No, there-- there-- but it-- it's round trip. WILLIE GEIST: No, these are round trip. NATALIE MORALES: No, these are round trip. AL ROKER: But you have to be-- NATALIE MORALES: Okay. One hour, right. AL ROKER: You have to be flexible about your return. NATALIE MORALES: Your return. Right. WILLIE GEIST: You may have to come home in like a week. TAMRON HALL: By flexible you mean week? AL ROKER: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. AL ROKER: Or a month. NATALIE MORALES: For example, for Boston-- TAMRON HALL: I don't know when I'm coming back home? AL ROKER: No, no. You can pick it. You can pick it. NATALIE MORALES: You can pick it. TAMRON HALL: Oh. AL ROKER: But if there's a range like-- NATALIE MORALES: But there's a range. Yeah. AL ROKER: --one day to a week. TAMRON HALL: Okay. NATALIE MORALES: You can fly to Boston right now for three hundred and sixty-eight dollars. It's a two-day trip returning Friday. So that's not a bad deal. WILLIE GEIST: Okay. AL ROKER: Unless you get stranded on a boat. WILLIE GEIST: All right. NATALIE MORALES: Three hundred sixty-eight dollars. Exactly. So, you know, not a bad deal. AL ROKER: That's cool. NATALIE MORALES: So it's a-- it's a cool app and it's free right now. AL ROKER: I like that. TAMRON HALL: I do, too. Because that whole twenty-one day-- fourteen-- it seems so antiquated and, you know, you're sitting next to someone who's paid-- NATALIE MORALES: Right. TAMRON HALL: --far less than what you paid-- AL ROKER: Right. WILLIE GEIST: Right. NATALIE MORALES: Right. TAMRON HALL: --or you're paying far more than someone else to be able to fly spontaneously. They should do that. AL ROKER: It is terrific. NATALIE MORALES: Right. Spontaneous. AL ROKER: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: I think especially-- TAMRON HALL: If there's a seat, sell it, you know. AL ROKER: Right. NATALIE MORALES: If you're young and single-- WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. NATALIE MORALES: --and have no cares. AL ROKER: Or if you're old-- TAMRON HALL: But if you're old and just go that way. AL ROKER: --if you're old and-- WILLIE GEIST: Yeah. AL ROKER: You're old and you're with somebody. (Cross talking) AL ROKER: All right. Going on a trip, Mavis. You're not coming. But going on a trip. NATALIE MORALES: Oh, gosh. TAMRON HALL: They only have one seat. NATALIE MORALES: I'm going. AL ROKER: That's right. Hey, okay. So the whole selfie thing. Maybe this will finally put the-- the stake in the selfie craze. Check this out. NATALIE MORALES: I don't think so. WILLIE GEIST: No, no. AL ROKER: This guy tries to take a selfie with a swan, doesn't work out so well. NATALIE MORALES: Okay. AL ROKER: They all think it's pretty funny. WILLIE GEIST: Oh. NATALIE MORALES: Oh. AL ROKER: Right there-- TAMRON HALL: Moved by a swan. AL ROKER: Then the sawn says-- NATALIE MORALES: I want to take a picture, though. (Cross talking) TAMRON HALL: Thank you. Thank you. It is from Natalie's book. AL ROKER: There you go. And then ladies and gentlemen,-- WILLIE GEIST: Yes. AL ROKER: --the gift that keeps giving. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at a Toronto park-- TAMRON HALL: Love that. AL ROKER: --with his brother Doug. Take a look. NATALIE MORALES: No. Seriously? WILLIE GEIST: Oh, yes. TAMRON HALL: Does he need to jump that aggressively? NATALIE MORALES: Wow. AL ROKER: Doesn't even need any commentary. TAMRON HALL: Okay. NATALIE MORALES: Oh, my gosh. TAMRON HALL: This is starting to look a little perverse, I'm sorry. What's wrong with this? AL ROKER: Starting? TAMRON HALL: And look at the kids. WILLIE GEIST: The horrified children behind them. NATALIE MORALES: Oh, my gosh. TAMRON HALL: The children are like, do we run? NATALIE MORALES: They're like, please don't break the seesaw. AL ROKER: Mommy, mommy, make it stop. Mommy. TAMRON HALL: I mean, have they never been on a see-- you know, one person goes up. Oh, wait. Look. He's like it's a hoppy horse. What is wrong with him? AL ROKER: Wow. WILLIE GEIST: So we can now say definitively that Rob Ford does not have a staff, right? There's no advance team. No one's saying, hey, don't do that. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. No, please. AL ROKER: No, they do. WILLIE GEIST: It's just-- it's just him. NATALIE MORALES: You know what? WILLIE GEIST: It's just him. TAMRON HALL: His brother is the staff. NATALIE MORALES: I think he's throwing it all out there. WILLIE GEIST: He get-- TAMRON HALL: Throwing it out. WILLIE GEIST: So he's out of rehab and this is the-- TAMRON HALL: Yeah. WILLIE GEIST: --beginning of his re-election campaign. NATALIE MORALES: Yes. WILLIE GEIST: Seesaw with Doug. AL ROKER: And but we saved the best for last. NATALIE MORALES: Oh, yeah. WILLIE GEIST: We did. Hey, Tamron, you were on Kimmel last night. Do you hear about this? NATALIE MORALES: We heard. TAMRON HALL: I heard. But I haven't seen for fear of what happened. WILLIE GEIST: Okay. So as many of you know Tamron went on Bear Grylls' show Running Wild. TAMRON HALL: Mm-Hm. AL ROKER: Right. WILLIE GEIST: They did some rappelling. Uh-Huh. TAMRON HALL: Yeah. Last night Zac Efron's episode aired. AL ROKER: Mm-Hm. WILLIE GEIST: Okay. TAMRON HALL: Zac was shirtless a lot. AL ROKER: Mm-Hm. TAMRON HALL: I won't be. NATALIE MORALES: Did yours air yet? TAMRON HALL: No. NATALIE MORALES: No. TAMRON HALL: It airs. I think on the 8th or so. NATALIE MORALES: Okay. AL ROKER: Okay. WILLIE GEIST: Okay. TAMRON HALL: Next week. But anyway-- WILLIE GEIST: Let's see how Jimmy Kimmel traded you and Bear Grylls. AL ROKER: Let's see this. WILLIE GEIST: Let's watch. TAMRON HALL: Oh, gosh. JIMMY KIMMEL: Bear showed a clip from his show on the TODAY Show, it's him rappelling into a gorge with Tamron Hall, who's a correspondent from the TODAY Show. And Tamron did not seem excited to be there. BEAR GRYLLS: Good girl, Tamron. TAMRON HALL: Oh. BEAR GRYLLS: It's going to be good. TAMRON HALL: Oh. BEAR GRYLLS: It's good, it's good, it's good. TAMRON HALL: Oh, my God. BEAR GRYLLS: It's good. JIMMY KIMMEL: Okay. So it's fun to watch. But if you remove the visuals from the equation, you take out the video, I think it's even more fun to listen to. BEAR GRYLLS: Good girl, Tamron. TAMRON HALL: Oh. BEAR GRYLLS: It's going to be good. TAMRON HALL: Oh. BEAR GRYLLS: It's good, it's good, it's good. TAMRON HALL: Oh, my God. BEAR GRYLLS: It's good. WILLIE GEIST: I apologize, Tamron. You didn't deserve-- AL ROKER: Yes. NATALIE MORALES: So was it good? TAMRON HALL: My mom watches this show. AL ROKER: Wow. Wow. That's the first time we played a clip where we're all going out for a cigarette. WILLIE GEIST: Wow. Wow. NATALIE MORALES: Nice glass of ice water right now. AL ROKER: Wow. WILLIE GEIST: Hm. Hm. AL ROKER: You know what's interesting? He did the same thing with Zac Efron. WILLIE GEIST: Good girl. Good girl. My gosh. TAMRON HALL: My hands are shaking now. WILLIE GEIST: You were just rappelling, though, to be clear. NATALIE MORALES: Oh, my gosh. WILLIE GEIST: Just rappels. AL ROKER: Obviously, you weren't that rappelled. NATALIE MORALES: You were scared to death. That was hilarious. AL ROKER: Okay. NATALIE MORALES: It's great. AL ROKER: Scale of one to ten, compare that to jury duty. NATALIE MORALES: Oh, my gosh. (Cross talking) WILLIE GEIST: You're good? NATALIE MORALES: Jimmy did it first. TAMRON HALL: Jimmy did it first. WILLIE GEIST: Okay. We'll let you regroup a little bit while Al does the weather. TAMRON HALL: My poor mom, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, mama. WILLIE GEIST: Your beautiful mother. AL ROKER: She's so proud. WILLIE GEIST: She raised you right. TAMRON HALL: My mama raised me right. AL ROKER: Yeah, she did. She obviously raised you right. Okay. Of course, if rappelling you is wrong, I don't want to be right.”
