Otrabanda, Willemstad, Curacao (Netherlands Antilles) - Foto stock

Otrobanda (meaning ‘the other side’) is on the opposite side of St. Anna Bay. This district was developed in the 18th century. Left is the Queen Emma Floating Bridge, connecting Punda and Otrabanda, the two parts of Willemstad. The 'Historic Area of Willemstad, Inner City and Harbour, Curaçao' is an outstanding example of European colonial history in the Caribbean. Curacao was established as a trading post by the Dutch West India Company in the early 17th century. Most of its original urban structure remains. In 1997 the Historic Area of Willemstad was inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage list.
