Anniversary of Mohamed Bah’s Killing by NYPD

NEW YORK, NY – SEPTEMBER 25: The speaker is Stanley Fritz, Justice League NYC. Hawa Bah, mother of Mohamed Bah, killed by NYPD in 2012 speaks during a vigil on the 8th anniversary of his death on September 25, 2020 at the location of Mohamed's killing in the neighborhood of Morningside Heights, Harlem Manhattan (113 Morningside Ave). Elected officials, faith leaders, and community supporters call for an end to the use of police as first responders to those experiencing mental health crisis. They call for Mayor Bill de Blasio and the City Council to defund the NYPD and direct resources to mental health and other services. Also, for the Mayor and NYPD Commissioner Shea to fire NYPD officer Edwin Mateo and the other officers involved in the incident.
