Colombians flock to Petronio Alvarez, biggest Afro cultural festival in Latin America

CALI, COLOMBIA - AUGUST 12: Thousands of people flocked to the largest Afro culture festival where different Afro-Colombian communities have met in Cali, Colombia.The largest Afro event in Latin America kicked off on Wednesday with a great diversity of spaces in, which they are combined gastronomy, crafts, music, dances and an extensive ancestral knowledge.The different Afro-Colombian communities meet in the city to present Afro-Colombian culture to the world."The Petronio is that meeting of meeting space as it says this year, the big house, where we all come, all of us who are from this territory and those who come to celebrate life, to celebrate us, to find from our flavors, from our movements, from our colors,” said chef Elsy Marina, who attended the festival.Artist Juan Carlos also said, "The atmosphere of the Petronio is always wonderful, the space that is given to it is important gives to traditional music, it is these spaces that we require as musicians, I am an artist to enjoy with the family."Choco, Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Narino are the departments that will be exponents in this festival.Around 20,000 people attend the site daily to enjoy the various cultural displays.
