(Original Caption) Fiendish "Murder Ring" Said to Have Killed Nine Osage Indians for Oil Wealth. W.k. Hale and others, all wealthy and prominent in the Osage district of Okla. were indicted by the federal court, Jan. 9 at Guthrie, Okla., charged with the murder of Henry Roan, wealthy Osage Indian, one of nine slain, according to Federal agents, by a murder ring, which sought to obtain the fortunes of Osages received from their oil lands.
