(Original Caption) A group of eight businessmen bought control of the Philadelphia Athletics last night to keep the 54 year old American League franchise in the City of Brotherly Love. Less than 24 hours before the deadline that would have transferred the club to Kansas City, the group purchased the club for approximately $4,000,000 from the Mack family.
