The shekel weakened by 1.2 percent in nervous trade to a representative NIS 4.89 to the dollar during the day, with dealers blaming the shekel's slide on growing fears of a credit rating downgrade for Israel as well as on the possible scenario of a U.S.-led attack on Iraq.
