Red in Tooth and Claw: Bear Takes Down Boar Along Spanish Mountain Road

Spain's surging bear population has seen an increase in human encounters with the animals, but few could have been as raw and bloody as the scene that greeted Veronica Fontan Puyol along a dark road in the Pyrenees. Puyol's video, recorded from the car she was in on March 3, shows the bear and its prey outside the village Canejan. The already-bloodied boar is seen putting up a struggle at first, and the bear interrupted by the barking of Puyol's dog. Eventually, the bear drags the boar up an embankment and begins to eat it.
