Delicious journey from Austria to whole world: Viennese Schnitzel

VIENNA, AUSTRIA - SEP. 30, 2023: The fame of Vienna Schnitzel, one of the leading flavors of Austrian cuisine, has spread all around the world. There are many variations of schnitzel, and it is prepared in different ways in Germany, France, and Japan as well. Schnitzel, which is derived from the German word “sniz”, means a piece of meat. Since the 19th century, meat that has been pounded thin and fried has been called schnitzel. Schnitzel is made with beef, chicken, and pork in different methods such as in Germany, France, Sweden or Japan. Hans Figlmüller, manager of Figlmüller restaurant which has been serving schnitzel since 1905, told Anadolu that there is a rumor that the food came to Austria from Milan as "Escalope Milanese" on Saturday (Sep. 30) in Vienna capital of Austria. Another rumor is how Schnitzel came to be citizens wanted to eat gold dust meals as in the palace and they found breadcrumbs flour. He talked about the making process: “The right temperature is essential. The color of the schnitzel depends on the duration it stays in the oil, as well as the freshness of the oil used.” “There is a little trick to prevent the schnitzel from turning too pale. If you add a spoonful of old oil to fresh oil, your schnitzel won't be too light in color. This way, you achieve a beautiful color right from the start, and the first schnitzels you cook won't turn out too pale." he added. He mentioned that famous names like Kim Kardashian and Mark Zuckerberg have visited the restaurant and said 'Mark Zuckerberg, interestingly, waited in line outside the restaurant; he didn't make a reservation or didn't want to, or couldn't, I don't know.
