‘People's Convoy’ rally in Hagerstown, Maryland ahead of Washington arrival

HAGERSTOWN, MD - MARCH 05: Hundred in Hagerstown, Maryland rallied on Saturday (Mar. 5) against coronavirus measures and vaccine mandate in the U.S. On Friday (Marc. 4) the U.S.-based group, called the “People’s Convoy” arrived in Hagerstown which is the final stop before capital about75 miles away or about a 90-minute drive. After a nearly 2,500-mile journey from California, the 30-mile-long People's Convoy is set to reach Washington D.C. Sunday morning. The truckers are demanding an end to the vaccination mandates and full reopening of the country. The US freedom convoy is influenced by the strike in Canada by the truckers who are also opposing the government’s vaccine requirements for cross-border movement into the US. The protests began on Jan. 29 when hundreds of transport trucks from across Canada surged into downtown Ottawa, Canada's federal capital, to protest vaccine mandates for truckers. At one point there were at least 500 big transport trucks and an estimated 10,000 protesters gathered in the city core. The demonstration soon turned into a protest against all COVID-19 health regulations.(Footage by Lokman Vural Elibol/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
